It's been a busy week with dissertation-writing and projects. The weather today and yesterday was beautiful. Let's hope it stays that way for a good long while. I can't wait until my dissertation is done, but I've a long way to go.

For doing some web design work for my boyfriend's fan pages for the band Atomic Kitten, I've been getting to take photographs at concerts and do some work on the websites. Last week, I went to Liverpool and went to a concert (Summer Pops) with Lulu and Lil McClarnon (ex-Atomic Kitten singer).

Liverpool. I have recently returned from the Beatles' birthplace. Saw the famous Penny Lane, Cavern Club, a yellow submarine and a yellow half-banana/half-lamb statue! (Liverpool exported sheep and imported bananas.) Had a nice meal in the city and at Albert Dock while I was there, and I went to a concert Sunday night - and got autographs. My ancestors from Yorkshire sailed from Liverpool to come to America in the 1840s. In webspeak, I've made a few changes in the text to some of my Flash and Web samples. I want to update this site because the design's been in use since about 1999, and there have been small changes here and there to the overall layout, but I think it's due for a redesign now. I want to convey that I am a programmer AND a designer, and I think this site looks more like a designer's site. Please give me some feedback. Thanks to those of you, my valued visitors, who have done so already.
This week, my time is going to be primarily dedicated to making a good start on my dissertation - a focus on web services in industry, particularly in the travel industry where I will be developing a small Java-based application for accommodation listings on the web. I see many late nights ahead. (By the way, I saw Shrek 2 in the cinema over the weekend. Go and see it if you're looking for a few dozen laughs!)
Happy Independence Day. Updates have been made to my CV/resume>. I am currently looking for freelance or contract work over the summer months. I am also looking for a full-time position from October onwards. Please e-mail me at info@almostafternoon.com if you have any suggestions. Thanks! (Oh, and enjoy the fireworks displays.)
