Tonight and early tomorrow morning are the best times to see April's Pink Super Moon. The moon itself will not appear in a pink shade, but it will be a paler orange or white colour. The name actually comes from the time of year; it was named by the native Americans as it is a full moon near the start of spring. April is known for the presence of many flowers, notably the "moss pink" or phlox flowers, which it was named after and one of the plants that blooms at the time of year.
The sky was a little cloudy or hazey tonight, so the photographs of the super moon are not the best moon photographs that I have managed to take.
The moon will be at its best in the early morning, so set the alarms early to check it out. The super moon can be seen in the UK, Europe, and in North America.
